MicroRNA(miRNA) is a sort of non-coding RNAs with regulatory functions, which plays important roles in the growth and development of individual organism, and disease development. In recent years, studies on the role of miRNAs in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) have attracted more attention. The miRNA can involve in the occurrence and development of NAFLD by regulat-ing liver glucose and lipid metabolism, inflammatory response and fibrosis. The identification of miRNA profiles with abnormal expres-sion in tissues or circulation will serve as a novel biomarker for the diagnosis of NAFLD and is expected to be a new target for the treatment of NAFLD.
