    Abstract:

Oxidative reaction, inflammatory action, and mitochondrial dysfunction caused by erythrocyte lysates will lead to secondary brain injury within hours to days of cerebral hemorrhage. It has been found recently that peroxisome proliferator-activated receptorgamma (PPAR-γ) plays multiple roles in endogenous hematoma clearance systems. When PPAR-γ is activated, it not only plays a role in anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidation, but also mediates the role of phagocytic cells in clearing hematoma to protect neurons. Therefore, PPAR-γ may be a potential target for the treatment of secondary brain injury after intracerebral hemorrhage.
