Research advances in the association between vitamin D3 signaling and interferon response in diseases

Abstract:

Vitamin D3（VD₃）-mediated biological effects and moderate interferon（IFN） response are essential for health； however，VD₃ deficiency/insufficiency and impaired IFN response are often observed in the development and progression of various diseases，including microbial infections and tumors. Moreover，the clinical efficacy achieved by the combination of VD₃ and IFN varies significantly depending on the type of disease and the target organs or cells involved，suggesting that there are extremely complex modes and mechanisms of inter-regulation between VD₃ signaling and IFN response. This article gives an overview of this topic，so as to provide a reference for the basic and clinical translational studies in this field.
